Overall purpose of the role
- Following the launch of the British Pop Archive in 2022, the University of Manchester is investing in a year-long project of interdisciplinary research with the aim to develop a larger scale future bid examining histories of enterprise in Post War Black British Popular Music.
- We are looking to recruit a Research Associate to work within this network at the University of Manchester. This RA will be instrumental to the project, developing new thinking and practices around the collection, research and future uses of archives relating to Post War Black British Popular Music, with a particular focus on histories and questions of under-representation, enterprise, entrepreneurship, and ownership. The project aims to impact on archival practice at the BPA, engage with a range of external stakeholders and generate directions for future interdisciplinary work in the fields of post war Black British popular music and the creative industries.
- The research network includes scholars and practitioners across Music, Film, English and American Studies, Creative and Cultural Industries, History, Business and Sociology and we welcome applicants from a range of disciplines and practices.
