Job description

Job summary

  • We are looking for JAG certified Nurse Endoscopists to join our high performing endoscopy team.
  • You will work alongside 5 experienced nurse endoscopists providing a nurse-led endoscopy service, working across 3 endoscopy sites including St George's Hospital (Tooting), Queen Mary's Hospital (Roehampton) and The Nelson (Wimbedon.)
  • You will have experience in functioning independently as a nurse endoscopist in either gastroscopy and / or colonoscopy procedures, within the context of a supportive clinical team.
  • You will work in Advanced Clinical Practitioner role and will be supported to complete a MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (where applicable), whilst demonstrating the four pillars of advanced clinical practice.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will practice autonomously as an ACP to provide a nurse-led endoscopic service in OGD and / or Colonoscopy.
  • This will encompass the skills of advanced assessment, examination, diagnosis and management or patients referred with gastrointestinal disorders and patients requiring endoscopic surveillance / screening.
  • The post holder will work within the multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England (HEE 2017) and will act as a clinical expert and professional resource to the multi[1]professional team, patients and carers within their specialist service.
  • They will liaise and collaborate with colleagues in the delivery of high quality, clinically effective care, prioritising and utilising evidence based and best practice.
  • They will work in partnership with clinical, nursing, and administrative teams.
  • The post holder will deliver an 80% clinical component to their role and 20% related to leadership and management, education and research.

    St George's endoscopy has an established history in providing exceptional patient-centred care and is a tertiary referral centre for EMR / ESD, ERCP, EUS and EBUS and bariatrics. In addition, we provide

    o Bowel cancer screening services to the south west of London in conjunction with the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.

    o Basic skills and advanced endoscopy training courses in conjunction with JAG and the National Endoscopy Training Programme

    Qualifications and Training

    Essential

  • oRegistered Nurse
  • oJAG accredited Nurse Endoscopist for OGD and / or colonoscopy and polypectomy (Level2)
  • oIndependent non-medical prescriber
  • oPost Graduate qualification in speciality
  • Desirable

  • oJAG accredited Train the Trainer
  • oMSc level in Advanced Practice or equivalent (minimum PGDip) or Completed portfolio of supervised practice in speciality
  • Experience

    Essential

  • o7 years post-registration experience, of which at least 5 years includes speciality experience
  • oMinimum 2 years' experience as a nurse endoscopist
  • oDemonstration of experience in all four pillars of advanced clinical practice : -Clinical practice -Leadership and management -Research -Education
  • Desirable

  • oExperience as clinical Leader
  • oExperience in an autonomous practice role
  • oPrevious experience in an advanced practice role
