Job summary
NHS England Choices College is a supported internship programme that aims to support young adults with learning difficulties, disabilities, or autism to become employment ready.
You will work closely with the Education Quality Assurance Manager in delivering the Functional Skills educational outcomes and maintaining an employment transition rate for students at above 75%. You will play a key role in ensuring the programme meets the educational needs of the students and regulatory bodies.
Please note - this vacancy will be based 1 day in Sheffield, 1 day in Lincoln and the remainder of the week from home. A driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
Main duties of the job
The Functional Skills Tutor's main duties will include delivery of bespoke Maths and English training to interns in a classroom setting and maintaining detailed weekly individual records for each student that meet inspection requirements.
You will be Educated to degree level or equivalent and hold a recognised post 16 / adult teaching qualification minimum Level 3 (AET / PTTLS / PGCE / )
You will be a confident communicator with students who have a range of learning disabilities. You will have recent extensive experience of working with students who have additional educational needs.
You will work on differentiated tasks with groups of students to deliver SEN provision and support the development of social and emotional skills of the students.
You will also have recent extensive experience in supporting the education of students with SEN on a 1 : 1 basis in the classroom. You will have strong report writing skills and Training in Systematic Instruction methodologies would be helpful.
A passion for supporting students with SEN to meet their full potential is essential for this role.
