Job Description
THALES are looking to recruit a passionate & driven Product Support Engineer to act as a point of contact for engineering queries relating to any aspect of Electronic Warfare Systems for our Through-Life Support Engine Division.
Location – Crawley hybrid working
This is a key role providing technical expertise and support for our products, equipment and systems. You’ll act as a point of contact for product engineering queries, implementing product design changes and being on hand to both engineering functions and the user community.
What will you deliver?
- To address obsolescence, reliability and supportability issues arising in the product
- Initiate, approve and advise on the embodiment of changes to the products to (a) address supportability events and (b) improve the utility (functionality, performance, and supportability) of the products
- Provide technical expertise to manufacturing, test, and repair activities which relate to the products and to effect improvements to the processes and related equipment
- Organise and lead the execution of the above tasks where a team of people is required to conduct them, managing the work, using allocated resources and with responsibility for identifying changes in resource requirements and seeking / negotiating a share of common resources.
- To represent the company in technical interactions with external organisations which concern the products Ensure that any assumptions and dependencies associated with the solutions are identified, recorded and maintained.

To initiate, approve, issue and present any documentation covering this workProduce estimates for packages of work.Plan, control and co-ordinate the work in order to produce designs on time and to the specified requirement by one or more of the following : Motivating and managing a team to produce desired objectives.Pro-actively monitoring and assessing the performance of sub-contractorsTo disseminate product knowledge and product application within the companyTo liaise with other team members, project teams, disciplines, groups and subcontractors on technical and programme matters.Undertake feasibility studies and the preparation of proposals and tenders, co-ordinating the activity of supporting staff as requiredDevelop any assigned staff through coaching and to provide learning opportunities for assigned staff based on the product and its support and deploymentEnsure effective collaboration between engineering and other disciplines in the execution of all works relating to the productProvide progress reports as required by company procedures and practiceParticipate in visits / trials and represent the company on / off site where necessaryTo ensure compliance with all company safety and security proceduresWho are we looking for?
Ideally worked as a Product Support Engineer or similar roleElectrical engineering experience in a Navy / MOD environment.Experience of Trouble shooting within a test facility using test rigs etcYou are able to understand the key issues and their implications. They are able to ask relevant and constructive questions on the subject. This level is aimed at roles that interface with TLSE and therefore require an understanding of the TLSE roleDegree qualifications in an electronics subject (desirable)Ex-Forces background as a technical subject matter expert.The successful candidate will need full Security Clearance (SC) -For more information and guidance please visit the UKSV website
