Health Protection Workforce Education Lead
About the Organisations :
Public Health Scotland (PHS) launched 1st April 2020 as a national health board, employing around 1200 people, and with an annual budget of around £101 million. Public Health Scotland wants to see a Scotland where everybody thrives, a Scotland where life expectancy improves and the difference in life expectancy between our poorest and wealthiest areas gets smaller.
Public Health Scotland (PHS) provides national leadership to ensure Scotland achieves its vision of a country where everyone thrives. With a focus on both influencing national policy and legislation and providing support to influence change across local systems, this is a unique and exciting opportunity to play a critical role in transforming Scotland’s health and wellbeing.
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.
The Post :
We are looking for an experienced workforce educationalist who will enjoy the exciting opportunity working with two national organisations. You will be an employee of PHS working half your time with us and the remaining half with NES. The work across both organisations is complementary. The postholder will help to protect the population of Scotland through the provision of professional educationalist advice and expertise. This will be achieved by providing workforce education leadership for health and social care professionals involved in delivery of health protection services across Scotland. The role will lead and determine the strategic direction of developing innovative high quality workforce education intelligence products and services for use across Scotland.
The Candidate :
You will have comprehensive, specialised, factual and theoretical knowledge within your field of work. You will have excellent project management, organisational and planning skills, being able to manage your time effectively working across both organisations. There is a breadth of Health Protection topics, therefore, you must be able to demonstrate collaborative working with multi-disciplinary specialists both internally and externally to the organisations.
Location and Working Pattern :
The post can be based in either Central Quay, Glasgow or Gyle Square, Edinburgh. PHS operates a flexible, hybrid working model, with an agreed minimum requirement to be in the office.
Based throughout Scotland, NES is a remote friendly employer supporting office and hybrid working. We’re happy to talk about how you want to work.
Please note that PHS and NES are currently in the process of relocating from Central Quay, Glasgow to Bothwell Street, Glasgow from early 2025.
Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
PHS and NES are flexible employers, and we are happy to discuss requests for alternative working patterns.
This post is eligible for re-allocation expenses within the UK, should candidates require to move base in order to take up post. It should be noted that NHS Scotland’s agenda for change rates are favourable in comparison to other UK nations.
During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
Benefits :
Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits. Click here to view the full range of the PHS Employee Benefits.
Closing date for completed applications is 20th December 2024
Interviews are expected to take place on 24th January 2025 .
Please note that the majority of correspondence is sent by e-mail only, so please check your e-mail regularly (including junk folders).
Public Health Scotland is an equal opportunities employer and as such guarantees to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for our vacancies.
PHS is a flexible employer, and we are happy to discuss requests for alternative working patterns
