Non-Union Professional, Grade 5, 8 hours per day
BROAD STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Network Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the organization’s network infrastructure. This includes monitoring network performance, troubleshooting network issues, and implementing routine network changes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology.
- 5 years of IT experience in an enterprise setting.
- IT experience in an education setting preferred.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols.
- Understanding of wireless network technologies (Wi-Fi, 802.11 standards) and experience with wireless network configuration and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash to automate routine tasks, analyze logs, and configure network devices.
- Experience with network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Effectively and efficiently conduct work via time management, organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Monitor network performance using network monitoring tools.Identify and troubleshoot network issues.Respond to network alerts and outages.Perform routine network maintenance tasks, such as patching, firmware upgrades, and configuration changes.Maintain network documentation, including network diagrams and configuration files.Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues.Provide technical support to end-users for network-related issues.Assist in the setup and configuration of network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.Implement and maintain basic network security policies and procedures.Monitor network traffic for security threats.
