Hydrologist Project Manager – International Water Projects (Remote / Travel Optional)

Location : UK-based remote role; travel to Asia and the Middle East is optional

ELB Recruit is partnering with an independent, privately-owned civil engineering firm that has a rapidly growing portfolio of water and infrastructure projects across Asia and the Middle East. We are seeking a Hydrologist Project Manager with strong international experience in hydrology, drainage, water resource management , and project delivery.

This role offers the opportunity to work remotely while leading large-scale water-related projects. Occasional international travel is available to attend client meetings and conduct site visits. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams—including civil and drainage engineers—and play a key role in developing proposals and delivering high-quality technical reports.

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for someone with a strong consultancy background and experience managing hydrology or water infrastructure projects, ideally in emerging markets.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage and deliver hydrological components of civil infrastructure and water projects across international markets.
  • Lead project teams and coordinate input from specialists in hydrology, hydraulics, drainage, flood risk, and environmental engineering.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders, ensuring timely and high-quality project delivery.
  • Oversee the preparation of technical reports, hydrological modeling outputs, feasibility studies, and proposals.
  • Work closely with International Financial Institutions (IFIs) and development banks, ensuring alignment with funding and technical requirements.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to business development efforts, including proposal writing and tender submissions.

Key Skills and Experience :

  • Strong academic background in hydrology, water resources engineering, civil engineering , or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing hydrology, drainage, or water infrastructure projects in an international consultancy environment.
  • Familiarity with international standards and financing institutions such as the World Bank, IFC, EBRD, KfW, and AfD.
  • Experience with hydrological / hydraulic modelling tools (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, MIKE, InfoWorks, or similar).
  • Excellent communication, client engagement, and leadership skills.
  • Fluency in English is essential, and proficiency in Najdi, Hejazi, or Gulf Arabic dialects will be regarded as a significant asset.
