Robert Half are supporting an exciting organisation based in Glasgow city centre to recruit a new Finance Manager . This is a full-time, permanent position well suited to a qualified accountant making their first move into industry.
Role
In this role, you will work closely with the Group Financial Controller, contributing to the Finance Operations Team by leveraging technology to optimise processes and enhance efficiency. The position combines traditional accounting responsibilities with a strong focus on driving transformational change within the Finance Operations function. As part of the Senior Finance Team, which includes the CFO, Group Financial Controller, and two Finance Managers, this role places a strong emphasis on adopting a technology-driven approach to create innovative solutions. There is significant scope for professional growth as the operational improvements introduced by the successful candidate take effect.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the Finance Operations function and lead a team of 6-8 individuals, providing guidance and support to ensure they achieve both personal and organisational objectives.
- Drive innovation and process improvement within the team by implementing automation tools and leveraging AI to enhance efficiency and minimise manual processes. Collaborate with external advisors to optimise performance and reporting capabilities using the organisation's financial system (e.g., NetSuite).
- Contribute to and support complex cross-departmental projects to align finance goals with broader business objectives. For instance, play a key role in launching a supplier portal for a network of over 6,000 suppliers.
- Assist in preparing monthly consolidated group financial statements in compliance with IFRS (or other relevant standards), while also supporting the Finance Manager.
- Facilitate month-end and year-end close processes, including managing inter-company reconciliations and eliminations, while maintaining strong controls around financial reporting and accounting timelines.
- Oversee group payroll activities in partnership with external payroll providers and the internal People / HR team.
- Provide support throughout the group audit processes by working closely with external auditors and preparing required audit documentation.
- Ensure compliance with trade regulations and statutory requirements across the group.
- Take ownership of group VAT reporting across all entities.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes by leveraging expertise in areas such as margins, transactional cash flow timing, and foreign exchange considerations.

This role is based in Glasgow city centre with hybrid working in place. Requirement of 3 days in office per week.
