Job description

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Assistant Engineer on a 3-6 month contract in Manchester. Role Summary To provide technical capability in developing, evaluating and delivery of engineering and asset solutions for activities associated with pipelines and other pressure systems to achieve compliance to legislative requirements and meet company objectives.

  • Develop and maintain Gas Transmission processes, procedures, specifications, engineering and safety instructions / bulletins, within sphere of expertise and provide input to the development of targets and policy in area of expertise.
  • Respond to customer enquiries to carry out work / development local to National Transmission System (NTS) reviewing information supplied to issue a decision on their enquiry with any necessary conditions.
  • Support Operations responding to customer enquiries directed to them to ensure work adjacent to NTS is carried out safely.
  • Support Customers following an initial review of their enquiry to assess further information provided to reach a decision or to allow the work to proceed if approved.
  • Liaise with Operations, Legal, Land and Acquisitions and Local Authorities when reviewing applications from customers and to permit development if deemed acceptable.
  • Recovery of costs from customers for permitted developments local to the NTS assets.
  • Operate within or supervise a small team or virtual team to achieve business objectives, plans and targets to enhance performance, condition, records and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Develop plans to ensure business objectives, targets and provide assurance for legal compliance is achieved. Follows complex plans, providing input and uses technical expertise to adapt plans to achieve successful delivery.
  • Review reports, technical data and information to inform asset management decisions. Act on outputs and instigates improvement programmes when identified
  • Lead the implementation of business plans to improve the performance and reliability of gas transmission assets. Provides advice across the business in area of expertise
  • Support incident investigations, and detailed inspections to manage risk, while creating value for the business.
  • Liaise with external bodies in sphere of expertise, such as trade associations, appropriate institutions in order to maximise value for the business. Inside IR35 Requirements
  • Experience of operational or technical asset management in gas transmission or petrochemical environment
  • Track record of developing working relationships quickly and effectively
  • Experience in stakeholder management
  • Experience of asset engineering discipline.
  • Awareness and understanding of the requirements of IGEM / TD / 1
