The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Contract Managers to join our Procurement and Commercial (P&C) team supporting the Offshore and Islands Capital Delivery programme.

Reporting to the Procurement & Commercial Manager, you will provide procurement and commercial support to our growing portfolio of Island connections. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of SSENT.

You will

  • Support the Procurement and Commercial Manager and their teams, providing a world-class procurement and commercial service to internal customers, ensuring all aspects of delivery follow internal controls as established through the Large Capital Projects Governance and Commercial Manuals.
  • Lead procurement activities such as developing project procurement strategies, managing the procurement process, negotiating contract terms and conditions, and managing prices through to contract award, ensuring compliance with the Utilities Contracts (Scotland) Regulations 2016.
  • Work on cost estimating to the required standard and accuracy, including relevant evidence to justify estimates to stakeholders such as Ofgem.
  • Manage costs and budgets via regular reporting and change management procedures; oversee payment and expenditure management.
  • Provide robust post-contract commercial management to support project goals, including negotiating compensation events and implementing core principles of the Commercial Manual.
  • Promote safety and ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures, fostering safe working practices internally and externally.

You have

  • Experience in drafting and interpreting commercial contracts, with knowledge of Standard Form construction contracts and bespoke arrangements, preferably including NEC.
  • A PQS background with experience developing procurement strategies and managing projects from refinement to execution. A QS qualification or similar is required. Experience in the energy sector is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong commercial acumen with excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills, with experience delivering large projects / programmes.
  • Experience in estimating, sourcing management, cost & budget management, and contract administration.
  • Competency in cost management issues, including reporting, forecasting, accrual management, and supply chain payments.
