Director - Eximius Finance (Accounting and Finance recruitment)

A leading banking organisation is seeking a Senior Payroll Director to lead the existing team following a period of significant growth across EMEA and APAC. This role will be comprehensive and focused on delivering payroll solutions efficiently to a complex, global business. It offers a substantial opportunity to influence operational processes and drive organizational change.

Based in London (City), the role requires presence in the office three days a week, with additional flexibility as needed.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Oversee payroll teams across EMEA & APAC nearshore locations.
  • Design and implement internal controls to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing in compliance with international laws and regulations, supported by proper documentation.
  • Manage full-cycle Payroll and HR Operations processing for 21 countries in EMEA and APAC.
  • Recruit and develop top talent, serving as subject matter experts and points of contact for payroll inquiries.
  • Establish and influence standards for financial controls related to payroll activities.
  • Review and develop control documentation for end-to-end payroll processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operating procedures in line with regulatory and compliance standards to support audits.
  • Develop strategies to minimize legal risks and operational impacts related to payroll.
  • Lead organizational resolution approaches aligned with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with professionals at all levels, including senior managers.
  • Guide the team to achieve business goals.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage resource allocation for payroll functions.
  • Cultivate a culture of talent development to support business strategy.
  • Manage a team of 10-15 FTEs.

Required Qualifications :

  • Extensive experience in International Payroll management.
  • Management or leadership experience.
  • Desired Qualifications :

  • Comprehensive experience in international Payroll, Payroll Tax, HR Operations, and audits.
  • Experience with Workday Payroll, ServiceNow, ADP Global View Payroll, and CloudPay Payroll.
  • Strong motivational skills to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure.
  • High attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to build credibility and effective relationships quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects in large enterprises.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong change management and technological proficiency.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Qualified Accountant (CPA / ACA or equivalent) preferred but not required.
  • Flexibility and agility in a changing environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
