Job description

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the CAMHS Unscheduled Team. The team focuses on assessment and intervention for young people presenting in crisis across Lanarkshire.

You will provide a high quality mental health service to children and young people and their families within the CAMHS Nursing Outreach Team. This includes working within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the department’s policies and procedures including

  • the assessment of young people and their families referred to the Service and
  • Co working with other members of the multidisciplinary Locality CAMHS team or under the direction of Team Leader or Charge Nurse in the provision of assessment and therapeutic interventions to these young people and their families utilising a range of therapeutic modalities as required. Physical observations as required. The post holder will be supported to work with the full range of presenting difficulties referred to the team.

NHS Lanarkshire CAMHS provide a service to infants, children and young people up to the age of 18 if they are still in secondary education. The service comprises :

  • Four Locality CAMHs Teams
  • CUIT (CAMHS Unscheduled Intervention Team)
  • CAYP (CAMHS for Accommodated Young People)
  • Reach Out (children impacted by parental mental ill health)
  • Two Nursing Outreach Teams
  • Paediatric Psychology Team
  • CITT (CAMHS Intensive Treatment Team)
  • Eating Disorder Team
  • NHS Lanarkshire

    What we'll need you to bring

  • Registered Mental Health / Learning Disability Nursewith valid NMC Registration
  • The post holder will be required to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative
  • Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
  • Car driver with a full, valid UK / EU / EEA licence and access to vehicle essential for community posts
  • Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK / EU / EEA licence.

    It would be great if you also have

  • NMC Registered Mental Nurse with qualification relevant to the defined clinical area i.e. Mental Health
  • Completion of Suicide Prevention Training, Mental Health Act learning materials; 10 Essential Shared Capabilities for Mental Health Practice learning materials.
  • Relevant experience in mental health as a registered mental health practitioner
  • Relevant practice in mental health at registered nurse level in forensic mental health or adult mental health
