Job description

The Role

The Project Engineer is expected to demonstrate leadership behaviour competences and be flexible to ensure delivery outcomes.  The role requires someone who may need to work flexible hours inline with the project and be able to travel.

The role requires a self-motivated individual with a positive can do attitude someone that can articulate their vision clearly to others and coordinating the action of peers and influencing discussions with the supply chain. The project engineer should demonstrate commercial awareness be well organised and be comfortable with complex projects enduring a rapidly changing environment and conflicting priorities.

Veolias projects vary in size and complexity but contract values typically range between 20m and 60m. The projects consist of multi-discipline Engineering Procurement and Construction water treatment modules between 200T and 3000T in weight. They are used by our customers offshore to improve the quality of injection water into the oil wells.

Main Duties

  • Support the Project Manager to ensure that the project works are executed safely and efficiently with quality programme and cost objectives achieved to the mutual satisfaction of the Customer and Veolia
  • Manage specific areas of the project to the requirements of the contract quality programme and cost constraints as allocated by the Project Manager such as :
  • Management and administration of a high-risk / high-value equipment or fabrication package order
  • Overall management of equipment and materials design & procurement deliverables
  • Management of installation sub-contracts
  • Assist in the overall management of the project as directed by the Project Manager including :
  • Preparation of project execution strategy
  • Preparation of external and internal progress reports
  • Attendance at external and internal progress review meetings
  • Perform Risk and Opportunity Management
  • Utilise and support Veolia Change Control systems
  • Preparation and costing of internal / client changes via Change Control
  • Visit customers suppliers subcontractors and site as necessary
  • Communicate with construction site team on a regular basis
  • Chair and minute internal and external meetings.
  • Report regularly on progress issues potential problems and potential solutions to any such problems.
  • Create project document list in line with agreed Client Documentation Requirements / and or Procedure
  • Liaise with nominated classification society to ensure project design / equipment meets requirements of their rules and regulations
  • Establish set up of project administration systems including the filing system
  • Prepare a project close-out report and archive the project records
  • Ensure all appropriate Health & Safety procedures are applied at all project locations
  • Provide cover for the Project Manager in their absence

Capture lessons learned identify & manage risk and exploit opportunities

Use up to date project methodology and process to implement and improve current project management procedures across the company

Provide commitment to innovation by proposing facilitating and delivering innovation projects

Qualifications :

Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline or Quantity Surveying or above

Experience

Previous project management / engineering experience in the delivery of equipment and / or process plant modules for the Energy industry.
