Job description

S3 ID Limited are looking for a Workshop Apprentice to complete a Level 3 Engineering Fitter apprenticeship and join their team.

Role & responsibilities :

As a Workshop Apprentice you will :

  • Attend training
  • Complete all assignments set
  • Work as part of the workshop team
  • Attend any training required
  • Liaise with your mentor

You will support the work of the Workshop Technician, and, under supervision, carry out the following tasks once you have sufficient training and knowledge :

Technical duties

  • Prepare documents, drawings and photos
  • Carry out incoming QA of components from external vendors

    • Customer Solutions

  • Build non-standard parts and components, cabinets, wiring harnesses and otherproject-related hardware from drawings and documents created by theEngineers as instructed by Project Managers
  • Connect and configure components, products, and sub-systems for solutionstogether into the solutions that will go through final acceptance testing with theend customer ensuring the connections are completed from the drawings anddocuments created by the Solutions Engineers
  • Ensure QA standards are met

    • General

  • Make decisions at the appropriate time taking into account the situation, prioritiesand constraints
  • Produce work on time and to a consistently high standard
  • Regularly update knowledge and skills
  • Set a positive example to team members through professional diligence and apositive attitude

    • The Workshop Apprentice is expected to assume other responsibilities and undertake other tasks as may bereasonably requested.

  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in work
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills

    • Personal qualities the candidate must have :

  • Flexible and cooperative attitude combined with a strong work ethic

    Things to consider :

    During the first year you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

    Qualification Requirements :

    Advanced Apprenticeships entry requirements

    You will need both of the following :

  • GCSE English language C or 4 or above
  • GCSE Maths C or 4 or above.

    • Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
