Experience required…

Essential :

  • Highways development control experience, primarily in responding to planning application consultations as a highway consultee.
  • Experience providing highway advice on planning applications particularly in a two-tier authority context where the county is the highway authority but not the local planning authority.
  • Desirable :

  • Knowledge of Staffordshire’s local transport policies and the Staffordshire Local Plan, alongside national guidance (NPPF, Manual for Streets).
  • Good understanding of the S106 process for securing highway mitigation and sustainable transport improvements.
  • Ability to assess Travel Plans, and site access designs to design standards, focusing on rural and semi-urban development’s typical to Staffordshire (e.g., village expansions, logistics parks, edge-of-town housing).
  • Experience providing pre-application advice to developers, helping to set parameters for traffic surveys / modelling and discussing junction improvements.
