Overall Purpose of the Role

The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and delivering the Chartwells Universities & Colleges Proposition, driving profitable revenue growth through participation and MAP2 growth, while supporting sales and retention pipelines.

This will involve creating measurable activation plans focused on key categories such as lunch, hot beverages, and food to go, to increase participation, spend, and frequency via apps, kiosks, and tills.

The role requires engaging with key stakeholders to maximize activity potential, maintaining regular communication on priorities and progress, all underpinned by market and internal insights aligned with business objectives.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop and communicate the annual marketing plan in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Create engaging promotional materials using third-party and in-house design resources
  • Manage external creative agencies and create operational briefs for new campaigns
  • Develop marketing assets using Canva for digital and print campaigns
  • Build and manage the marketing budget, securing sponsor funding where possible
  • Approve promotional business cases supporting retail growth initiatives
  • Food Development

  • Define the Annual Food Development Plan with input from the Executive Chef, based on consumer insights to foster innovation and revenue growth
  • Insight

  • Gather and utilize marketplace, consumer, and operator insights for marketing and food offer development
  • Lead the creation of annual consumer surveys and awareness campaigns to maximize response rates
  • Analyze survey data to inform strategy and operational improvements
  • Brand Standards

  • Maintain brand consistency across all Chartwells brands and templates
  • Approve visual designs for outlets and branded materials
  • Develop SOPs to create welcoming, sales-optimized spaces
  • Uni Food Hub & Kiosks

  • Update and optimize content on digital platforms and kiosks
  • Support the development of the Uni Food Hub and Time2Eat app through feedback
  • Manage menu uploads and updates
  • Student Engagement & Community Marketing

  • Support the development of marketing skills within the Student Engagement team
  • Brief and manage the Student Engagement Manager on campaigns
  • Oversee the Senior Student Engagement & Marketing Manager in key projects
  • Franchises

  • Amend assets for campaigns, support sales with content, and organize photoshoots
  • Who You Are
