We are seeking a dedicated and experienced service engineer, fitter, technician, or mechanic to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is an experienced powered access engineer or perhaps a seasoned car mechanic, plant fitter, or similar, looking to explore a different role.

As a Workshop Service Engineer at Nationwide Platforms, you will work within a busy depot to inspect, repair, and maintain our machines, ensuring they are ready for customer use. Our machines include powered access equipment such as booms and scissor lifts, but comprehensive training will be provided. If you have a positive attitude, are eager to learn, and possess some mechanical or electrical engineering experience, this role could be ideal for you.

We offer a competitive salary, life assurance (x2 contractual salary), Westfield healthcare plan, 25 days holiday, and a pension. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 am to 5 : 30 pm.

Responsibilities include :

  • Supporting the Senior Service Engineer in the efficient operation of the depot workshop within the region.
  • Carrying out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) of machines at client sites and depots, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications, company policies, and safety regulations. Reporting any defects or safety issues.
  • Repairing machines at the depot or on-site to meet manufacturer standards and company policies.
  • Performing planned maintenance and maintaining the fleet’s appearance to corporate standards.
  • Handover of machines to customers and training them on safe operation procedures.
  • Representing the company professionally, delivering high standards of customer care, and relaying customer queries to depot staff.
  • Completing all relevant paperwork accurately, including reports, off-hire, inspections, and service sheets.
  • Updating the system regarding machine status changes, such as PDI completion, repairs, or statutory inspections.

About you :

  • Relevant general engineering maintenance qualification, preferably NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
  • Experience in diesel engineering, auto electrics, hydraulics, and fault diagnostics.
  • A mature outlook with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
  • Understanding the importance of excellent customer service.
