Job description

Role : Substation Project Engineer

Sector : Transmission

Location : Glasgow / Hybrid / Travel Required to Site(s) & Office Attendance

Start Date : July 2025

Duration : 6-Months + Possible Extension

Rates : £750 Daily Rate Inside IR35 via Umbrella

Clearance : BPSS (DBS / DS, Financial Probity, Employment History) + Medical Questionnaire & Proof of Right to Work in the UK

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :

  • Creating outline scope, site location plans, primary plant layout and Single Line Diagrams for new build and asset replacement type projects, operating up to 400kV.
  • Reviewing contractor / consultants detailed designs and witnessing Factory Acceptance Testing.
  • Implementing safety by design principles to ensure that engineering and safety risks are adequately controlled.
  • Support site and operational teams to ensure the quality of installations, with minimal risk to Network security.
  • Evaluate tenders and procure and manage specialist services from consultants

Essential Qualifications / skill set required :

  • Candidates must be degree qualified electrical engineers to be considered for this role.
  • Previous Transmission experience required.
  • A minimum of 3+ Years substation project engineer experience up to 400kV
  • Proven experience in high-voltage substation design, operation, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in project management
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations
