SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS ENGINEER

COVENTRY, NORWICH, PAISLEY

What you will be doing :

An opportunity has arisen for a Software Applications Engineer to join the team at Lintott, a Galliford Try business.

The main purpose of the role is to design, construct, and test PLC, HMI, and / or SCADA software and produce associated documentation (such as Functional Design Specifications and Test Plans) that fully complies with Standards and contractual requirements.

• Understand and interpret the functional / control / system requirements of the project / requirement.
• Design documents including I / O lists, FDS, SDS, test documents, etc., where applicable.
• Program PLCs and HMIs (including Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi) and configure SCADA systems (Wonderware, Rockwell, Siemens). Training will be provided where necessary.
• Deliver projects on-time and within budget, adhering to Standards and contractual requirements.
• Demonstrate expertise in computer / PLC logic and flow-charting.
• Understand low voltage electrical systems and drawings.
• Attend customer sites as required, upholding the Company’s Culture and Values.
• Review and repair legacy code when necessary.
• Conduct system analysis and development, keeping systems current with changing technologies.
• Test and proof programs for functionality, logic, and syntax accuracy.
• Document code clearly and consistently, ensuring compliance with Standards and best practices.
• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills for professional interaction with clients and personnel.
• Perform scalability and portability analysis when needed.
• Assist in the development and harmonization of company processes and knowledge systems.
