SEN Teaching Assistant (PMLD / SLD) – Manchester

Full-time | Long-term | Immediate Start |petitive Daily Rate of £95 - £115

Your Newpany Hays Education is a market-leading recruitment agency working in partnership with a highly respected special educational needs (SEN) primary school in South Manchester. The school caters for pupils aged 3–11 with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD), andplex medical and physical needs. Many pupils are non-verbal and require support withmunication, personal care, and sensory integration. The school is purpose-built with outstanding facilities, including hydrotherapy pools, sensory rooms, rebound therapy, and accessible outdoor learning spaces. Your New Job As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils withplex needs in a classroom setting. Working closely with class teachers, therapists, and medical staff, you will help deliver personalised learning programmes, support physical and emotional development, and assist with personal care routines. This is a full-time, long-term role with the potential to be permanent for the right candidate. Your responsibilities will include :

  • Supporting pupils with PMLD, SLD, andplex medical needs
  • Using Makaton, PECS, or othermunication aids (training provided if needed)
  • Assisting with feeding, toileting, and mobility
  • Creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
  • Promoting independence, engagement, and emotional wellbeing

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, ideally PMLD or SLD
  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach
  • Willingness to support with personal care and medical routines
  • Strongmunication and teamwork skills
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply through Hays)
