Job Description : Job summary

Our client, a prominent organisation in the automation and energy sector, is seeking a Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to join their team. This permanent role involves maintaining and improving process control and safety systems to ensure safe and efficient facility operation.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Identify areas for plant improvement and develop project scopes and schedules.
  • Design and implement new process control and safety systems for capital projects.
  • Monitor budgets for C&I activities, ensuring cost-effective performance.
  • Lead site functional safety efforts, including development, maintenance, and support.
  • Review and improve Safety Instrumented Systems documentation to meet international standards.
  • Specify, test, and commission SIS and control system upgrades.
  • Provide technical support, diagnosis, root cause analysis, and remedial work.
  • Supervise C&I Technicians and ensure documentation compliance with legislative requirements.

Job Requirements :

  • HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering field or currently working towards it.
  • Working towards professional registration with an engineering institution.
  • Understanding of control and instrumentation design standards in oil and gas operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach.
  • Experience in plant operations and working with operations personnel in the energy sector.
  • Ability to diagnose control system faults through root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with Safety Instrumented Systems design, maintenance, and operation.
  • Knowledge of IEC 61508, 61511, and BS EN 60079 standards.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize daily activities for successful project delivery.
  • Strong communication skills across all management levels.
  • Diligence, reliability, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Proficiency in PLC software, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project.
