Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)

12 months fixed term post

15 hours per week – 2 / 3 shifts worked Monday to Friday between 0800-2000

To work as a member of a team providing an efficient and comprehensive clerical support service for the unit, thereby supporting the delivery of high-quality service to patients and staff within the Department.

Main duties of the job

To welcome patients, carers, relatives, visitors and other health care staff on arrival to the unit and to be responsible for registering patients on arrival and checking and updating patient details.

To relay any patient medical information to professional staff as well as checking patient information on the WPAS system and updating as appropriate.

To maintain medical and nursing records, together with all reports, results and X-rays for patients and correspondence from other departments.

This includes sourcing and tracking case notes from other departments or wards in the Hospital.

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 12 MONTHS DUE TO FUNDING.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • The post holder will provide a comprehensive clerical and reception administrative service, demonstrating a courteous, professional, and sensitive approach at all times prioritising their time, and demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and will;

Maintain records both manually and on computerised systems.

Handling sensitive and confidential information, i.e. patient / staffing information, or service data etc.

Deliver a client focussed service promoting good customer service and effective working relationships.

Provide a clerical and word processing service associated with correspondence, reports, and other similar documentation as directed by the Manager.

Provide clerical and administrative support during colleagues’ absences due to annual leave and sickness.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent, Grade C or above.
  • Level 2 or equivalent demonstrable experience / knowledge in Business Administration or similar
  • Proof of appropriate CPD.
  • Desirable criteria

  • ECDL or equivalent experience and or qualifications.
  • Customer Service qualification L2
  • Essential Experience
