Back-End Engineer – Java

500 / day PAYE – Fully Remote – UK Applicants Only

We’re hiring two experienced Back-End Engineers to join a high-impact engineering team responsible for building and maintaining internal systems that support critical operations across marketing, merchandising, and pricing functions.

These systems are already live, business-critical, and serve as the core backend infrastructure for tools used daily by internal stakeholders. The work involves optimising and evolving legacy Java code , integrating multiple distributed services, and delivering changes safely in a production environment with short turnaround times.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in Java backend development , ideally within high-volume or distributed systems
• Track record of maintaining or modernising internal business tools or complex service integrations
• Strong fundamentals in system design, clean coding practices, and safe deployment in live environments
• Comfortable navigating cloud-hosted infrastructure (GCP preferred) — no need for deep DevOps skills, but familiarity with concepts like buckets, managed services, and logging is expected
