Senior Virus Production Technician

Location : Woking Area Type : Full-Time, Permanent (On-site) Salary : £32k - £44k plus 7.5% bonus

Join a leading biopharmaceutical manufacturer in our Virus Production department and play a key role in the production of inactivated viral antigens used in vaccines distributed worldwide. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced technicians looking to advance their careers in a regulated, high-containment environment. As a Senior Virus Production Technician, you will lead small operational teams and support the manufacturing of viral antigens under GMP and biosafety conditions. Your role will combine practical, hands-on process work with quality oversight and leadership responsibilities within a Grade A / B cleanroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead two teams (three operators each) to ensure efficient operations and regulatory compliance
  • Carry out bulk virus antigen production under strict GMP and biosafety protocols
  • Conduct equipment cleaning, decontamination, and steam sterilisation
  • Accurately complete and review batch manufacturing records and documentation
  • Raise and investigate EHS and quality deviations
  • Operate in Grade A / B clean rooms, performing aseptic manufacturing
  • Contribute to process improvements, training, and day-to-day production troubleshooting

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills
  • Methodical, detail - focused, and able to work under pressure
  • Experience in a GMP - regulated pharmaceutical or biotech production environment
  • Familiarity with biosafety protocols and cleanroom operations
  • IT literate (SAP or GBS experience highly desirable)
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive, team-oriented approach
  • Nice-to-have skills
