A new opportunity has arisen with a highly innovative engineering organisation based in Cambridge , working at the forefront of radar and surveillance technology for defence and security applications.
They are looking for a skilled FPGA Design Engineer to join their multidisciplinary engineering team and take ownership of the design and development of advanced digital signal processing solutions, used in real-time, high-reliability environments.
This role is office based , offering full involvement in the product development lifecycle, from concept through to implementation, test, and integration. It's a chance to contribute directly to the development of high-performance systems in an environment that values technical depth and engineering rigour.
Key Responsibilities :
Design, implement and verify FPGA-based digital signal processing systems using VHDL or Verilog.
Collaborate closely with embedded software, electronics, and systems engineering teams.
Contribute to system-level architecture and interface definition.
Support design verification, testing, and debugging of FPGA modules.
Ensure designs meet relevant performance, timing, and reliability criteria for deployment in defence applications.
Proven commercial experience in FPGA design (VHDL or Verilog).
Strong understanding of FPGA toolchains, preferably Xilinx (Vivado / ISE) or Intel (Quartus).
Familiarity with simulation, synthesis, and timing analysis tools.
Experience working with high-speed data interfaces and signal processing.
Comfortable working in a high-integrity or safety / mission-critical environment.
Exposure to radar, RF systems, or sensor technologies.
Knowledge of embedded systems and integration with microprocessors or SoCs.
Background working in defence, aerospace, or secure communications sectors.
