Job description

Job Title : SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary (Physical Disabilities)

Location : ST21 (Stafford area)

Start Date : September 2025 (or sooner if available)

Contract Type : Full-time, long-term

Working Pattern : Monday to Friday, term-time only

Pay rate : £89- £110 per day dependent on experience

We are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in the ST21 area . The school caters for students aged 11-19 with a range of physical disabilities , as well as associated learning and communication needs. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity to be part of a nurturing, inclusive environment where students are encouraged to develop confidence, independence, and resilience.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will :

Provide 1 : 1 or small group support to students with physical and complex needs

Assist with mobility, personal care, and use of specialist equipment (full training provided)

Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and external professionals to meet EHCP outcomes

Support students in accessing a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum

Build strong, trusting relationships that help students thrive socially and emotionally

Promote student independence while maintaining high levels of care and safety

Previous experience working with students with physical disabilities or additional needs (in schools or a transferable setting)

A calm, patient, and proactive approach to support and behaviour

Confidence in assisting with personal care or medical routines (or willingness to train)

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one

Be part of a committed and caring specialist education team

Make a genuine impact on the lives of young people with physical and learning needs

Receive training in areas such as manual handling, communication strategies, and medical care

Work in a well-resourced school that values inclusivity, dignity, and personalised support
