Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Regulatory Affairs Director to join our team. In this role, you will organize strategic financial and technical analyses and advocacy regarding Apollo's and Athene's businesses in the U.K. and E.U. regions. Your responsibilities include supporting regulatory initiatives related to insurance regulation, solvency, and the creation or tailoring of investment products for the region, as well as global initiatives in private credit and non-bank financial intermediation. You will need to understand and advocate for global and regional regulatory policies and build strong governmental, regulatory, and peer relationships.

The role requires analyzing complex technical issues related to U.K. and E.U. regulatory policies and creating content and analysis for internal and external communication. You will also support other executives, including Apollo's General Counsel for EMEA and the EVP Head of Government Affairs of Athene.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Engage as a regulatory policy expert : Conduct in-depth analysis and advocacy on policy matters, especially in insurance regulation and solvency, investment product creation / tailoring, and regional engagement on global initiatives.
  • Coalition Building : Organize engagement with trade associations and peer companies, monitor issues and positions, and contribute to strategic positioning.
  • Craft effective messaging : Analyze complex regulatory issues and produce clear memos, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Lead with agility : Manage diverse workstreams and collaborate across teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Be a strategic partner : Identify challenges proactively and develop innovative solutions, demonstrating a proactive and committed approach.
  • Collaborate with various teams within Apollo and understand the implications of regulatory changes to develop proactive strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees or certifications like MBA, CFA, FRM, JD are preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with financial data acumen.
  • At least 7+ years of experience in the financial sector, including some regulatory experience.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
