Overview

Hilton Veterinary Clinic of Ferndale is hiring a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team.

Position : Veterinary Technician – Hilton Veterinary Clinic of Ferndale

Location : 3250 Hilton Rd, Ferndale, MI 48220

Compensation : $23–$25 per hour (dependent on experience)

Clinic Hours

  • Monday–Friday : 9 : 00 AM – 7 : 00 PM
  • Saturday : 9 : 00 AM – 5 : 00 PM

Work Schedule

Enjoy a consistent 4-day workweek , including alternating Saturdays (which count as one of the 4 days).

  • Position Overview

    We are looking for a Veterinary Technician with strong technical skills and a passion for animal care. You will play a key role in clinical care and client service. A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and ability to work well in a team are essential.

    Responsibilities

    Major Duties

  • In-patient medical care : administer medications, assist with treatments, diagnostics, monitoring, IV catheter placement, blood draws, lab tests, IV fluids, patient care
  • Anesthesia / Surgery : prep, induction, monitoring, recovery, sterilization of equipment
  • Dental care : ultrasonic cleaning, polishing, assisting with dental surgeries
  • Radiology : positioning patients, assisting with radiographs, emailing images
  • Laboratory duties : sample collection, preparation, testing, result recording
  • Client communication : updates, discharge instructions, follow-ups
  • Client education : teaching at-home care procedures
  • Veterinary Technician appointments : blood draws, bandage changes, post-op checks, suture removals
  • Clinic technician duties : assisting with outpatient appointments, room prep, patient check-in / out, vital signs, data entry
  • Reception duties : answering phones, scheduling, admitting / discharging patients
  • Training and mentoring new team members
  • Inventory control : restocking supplies, notifying low stock
  • Prescription preparation : dispensing medications and refills
  • Qualifications

    Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, lift up to 50 pounds, or more with assistance
  • Endurance for extended periods of sitting, standing, walking
  • Sufficient ambulatory skills for hospital environment
  • Ability to work in noisy conditions with animal and equipment sounds
  • Exposure to pets that may bite or scratch, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, medications
  • Good hand-eye coordination, dexterity, visual acuity for equipment operation
