We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a welcoming and inclusive Secondary school in the Tameside area
About the Role :
Morning : You will work within a small KS4 intervention class, supporting targeted learning activities and helping to create a positive, structured environment for a group of children who require additional support.
Afternoon : You will transition to a KS3 class, working 1 : 1 with a child with ASD to provide consistent, nurturing support and help them access learning through play-based activities.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide individualised support tailored to the needs of the child
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver strategies that support learning and emotional regulation
Foster a calm and supportive atmosphere, using positive behaviour management techniques
Help implement the child’s EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) targets
Support transitions between activities and environments to reduce anxiety
The Ideal Candidate Will Have :
Experience working with children with ASD, particularly in an Secondary or College setting
A patient, empathetic approach with a genuine passion for supporting children with SEN
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
A relevant qualification in childcare, education, or support work is desirable
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
