Job description

Were looking for an ambitious, technical sales professional to take on an exciting Sales Engineer / Business Development Manager role, with one of the UKs leading providers of automation solutions.

This company have become well established over the last 25 years, and as a Sales Engineer / Business Development Manager, youll combine sound technical knowledge with exceptional sales skills to help further develop the firms market presence.

Ideally youll have an engineering qualification or equivalent (mechanical, electrical) and be apprentice trained (ONC, HNC, Degree). However, if you are currently working in an internal commercial or technical sales role and have a strong desire to prove yourself at field sales level, for the right individual, the company will provide the support and training to enable you to succeed.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish new relationships and maintain relationships with existing customers
  • Generate new business and new customers on a weekly basis, effectively seeking out new prospects
  • Excel in managing and interpreting customer requirements, within an engineering environment
  • Identify and articulate to customers the product or service that will best satisfy their needs
  • Negotiate and close sales by agreeing terms and conditions, offering after-sales support post sale
  • Preparing sales forecasts and reports for head office
  • Consistently meet sales targets
  • Accurately record and maintain all client contact data

  • Sound judgement and good business sense
  • Personable with the ability to build relationships with clients quickly.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Resilience and tenacity to pursue and close sales
  • Ability to work independently and from home
  • Communication skills that allow you to liaise with all levels, from board room to factory floor
  • Experience selling engineering products to design engineers, project engineers and supply chain personnel would be a distinct advantage
  • Engineering qualification or equivalent (mechanical, electrical) is also desirable
