Job description

As part of a heating maintenance team, the post holder will be expected to provide a comprehensive repairs and maintenance service to domestic heating installations and appliances in client properties. You will be able to analyse, fault find, and carry out repairs and services professionally and to a high standard, in compliance with current regulations and legislation.

ROLE SPECIFICATION :

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • To service, repair, maintain, and install gas appliances in client-owned properties, following manufacturer instructions and guidance.
  • Be competent in fault diagnosis and repair of modern and traditional boilers, including repairs to central heating systems, fitting new pumps, motorised valves, radiators, and adapting pipework as necessary.
  • Power Flushing of heating systems.
  • Ensure the security and correct operation of plant and equipment, including vehicles, flue gas analysis meters, and mobile data equipment (e.g., PDAs).
  • Complete all certification and documentation accurately, in accordance with Data Protection and Information Security regulations.
  • Monitor first-time fix and callback rates regularly to maintain standards and service levels.
  • Possess a high level of literacy and numeracy to perform calculations related to gas works and interpret manufacturers' instructions.
  • Apply a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving and fault diagnosis, maintaining focus and concentration to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
  • Demonstrate good customer care skills and the ability to handle potentially upset or angry customers professionally.
  • Work effectively both as part of a team and independently, showing initiative in handling situations and completing tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, explaining the operation of gas appliances and the importance of regular servicing.
  • Work to deadlines and liaise with managers and customers regarding schedule or appointment changes.
  • Be willing and able to train apprentices or other personnel as required.
  • Perform any other duties reasonably requested by the Contract Supervisor / Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS :

ACS qualifications - minimum of CCN1, CEN1, WAT1, (CENWAT), CKR1, HTR1 & CPA1, Energy Efficiency, DAH1, Unvented Hot Water, WRAS (water supply regulations 1999).

HEALTH & SAFETY :

Certificate of Asbestos Awareness Training (Essential).
