Job Title : Clinical / Counselling / Forensic Psychologist – Band 7 / 8a

Location : Stoke on Trent

About the Role :

My client is seeking a dedicated Psychologist to join an enthusiastic team of Psychologists, Psychological Therapists, and Assistant Psychologists. In this role, you will :

  • Conduct assessments of therapeutic and placement needs.
  • Provide direct therapeutic interventions to children and young people.
  • Offer consultation and training to parents, carers, and residential care staff.
  • Participate in Autism assessments.
  • Assess and treat your own caseload of clients and maintain associated records.
  • Provide, develop, and manage highly specialist interventions.
  • Clinically supervise less experienced psychologists, psychological therapists, assistants, and trainees.
  • Coordinate the provision of specialist services and provide specialist advice to other professionals and carers.
  • Contribute to service development, specifically in children’s residential care support services.
  • Assist in the overall day-to-day running and management of the company under the guidance of the Clinical Director.
  • Working Pattern : 37.5 hours per week, typically from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Band : NHS AfC Band 7 / 8a equivalent (although roles are not banded here).
  • Specialism : Children, young people, and families.
  • Reporting to : Clinical Director or designate.
  • Location : Stoke on Trent. Some travel required depending on client and business needs.

Key Qualifications :

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is mandatory .
  • Experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Clinical experience of working with adoptive families, children in foster care, or those in residential care is highly desirable.
  • Training in DDP, Theraplay, EMDR, or other trauma-informed therapies is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of two years of post-qualified work experience in a clinical environment with children, young people, and their families.
  • Experience of working with developmental trauma and attachment difficulties is desirable.
