Assistant Quantity Surveyor

We are looking to strengthen our Commercial team with an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, based in Peterborough with hybrid working options available.

What will you be doing as our new AQS?

As our new AQS, you will act as the commercial conscience of the integrated delivery team, providing support to both the delivery management and on-site teams. Embracing an outperformance mentality, you will ensure operations control costs, maximize value, minimize future liabilities, and maintain quality and safety standards.

You will also develop your soft skills and understand the importance of an efficient and proactive commercial team in a dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities :

• Assist the programme area's Estimating team to ensure robust estimates that align with scope, considering risks and opportunities, including data transfer to the Alliance Procurement system and Cost Base.
• Collaborate with the Cost Manager, Procurement team, Construction Manager, and Project Delivery Manager to prepare subcontracts and procurement strategies reflecting the agreed scope.
• Provide accurate live forecasting considering the programme and report according to the work and cost breakdown structures.
• Monitor and assess actual costs against baseline, work value, solution cost progress, affordability challenges, and final outturn calculations.
• Report on actual costs versus estimates, identify reasons for variances, and propose resolutions. Challenge and resolve variances to align with the latest plans.
• Assist the Cost Manager in ensuring all project team members understand contractual arrangements to meet client and partner requirements.
• Maintain proper records for audits and cost assurance, ensuring financial information is readily available.

Excellent IT skills, particularly in Excel, are required. You should be an effective communicator, capable of engaging with diverse audiences. As a proactive team member, you will possess strong organizational and prioritization skills, enthusiasm, and a desire to learn to make a positive impact.
