Support Pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people who face emotional and behavioural challenges? We’re looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals to join Protocol Education as SEMH Teaching Assistants across Newcastle upon Tyne and surrounding areas.
This is a flexible role ideal for those with a calm, consistent approach and a strong interest in mental health and inclusive education. Travel up to 1 hour may be required to support partner schools and provisions across the region.
What You'll Do
Build meaningful, supportive relationships with pupils who require SEMH support
Assist with behaviour regulation, emotional development, and engagement in learning
Promote a safe, nurturing environment in both mainstream and alternative settings
Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to deliver individualised support
What We’re Looking For
A calm, empathetic presence and a genuine passion for helping young people thrive
Confidence supporting students with anxiety, trauma, or behavioural needs
Willingness to travel across Newcastle and nearby areas (up to 1 hour)
DBS on the Update Service and legal right to work in the UK
Prior experience in education, care, youth work, or mental health is a strong advantage

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
