The Role :
In the role of Construction Manager, your duties include maintaining adherence to the UU SACRED principles (Safety, Authorisation, Customer, Right First Time, Environmental and Drinking Water) rules throughout the project’s Deliver phase. Additionally, you will be responsible for the onsite client management of the Contractor to ensure we spend customers’ money wisely.
You will serve as the primary UU point of escalation for both internal and external stakeholder issues arising from the construction works and be the key interface between the Project and UU Operations. In this capacity, you will coordinate the work under the UU Work Authorisation Procedure.
Furthermore, you will be designated as the supervisor within the NEC4 Contract, endowed with contractual authority. You will also hold a specified number of Project Manager delegated contractual powers to ensure the contractor’s performance aligns with the contract stipulations.

Working as part of project teams to deliver elements of the Capital ProgrammeEnsuring the projects are delivered safely to the required outcomes (SACRED, time and cost)To ensure the appropriate management of key stakeholders, both internal and externalManaging external contractors to achieve the aboveThis role will be based in Cumbria, North & West.
Key Accountabilities :
Work collaboratively with the Project Manager under the Contract to jointly deliver project outcomesWork as part of a project team consisting of internal and external members to ensure delivery of agreed outcomes against the UU SACRED rulesProvide Deliverability support to projects to ensure they can be designed and delivered in a safe manner whilst maximising efficiencies and achieving business objectivesDevelop, promote and maintain a safety culture to deliver excellent Health and Safety performance on siteDevelop strong onsite relationships with UU Operations and Contractors to ensure successful project outcomesManage onsite risks and changes and escalate issues affecting programme / project deliveryManage and deliver reporting of onsite progress against the overall programme directly to appropriate peopleEnsure statutory approvals are being obtained and adhered to onsiteReviewing the works schedule and method statements to ensure progress of the works is on schedule and in being undertaken in a logical fashionSatisfying themselves that the contractor’s performance is in accordance with the contract and ensuring the contractors resources are adequate and suitableTo be successful with your application, you’ll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria :
Educated to degree or HND level or equivalent industry experience and ideally working toward being professionally qualified (e.g. CEng, MCIOB, MICE, and MCIWEM)CITB Site Management Safety Training scheme or equivalentNEC3 / 4 Accredited Supervisor or demonstrable working knowledgeSignificant experience and track record of delivering construction projectsFlexible leadership style to suit different situationsEffective formal and informal communication and coaching style.Able to prioritise tasks and finite resources to deliver business targets / objectivesEffective internal and external stakeholder managementContract management and commercial awarenessTechnical awareness and competence in either civil, mechanical, electrical or ICAFull UK Driving License.It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following desirable criteria :
