What will you be doing?
To take ownership of Reporting matters, both financial and regulatory, specific to the S&W Group consolidation and legal entities in the Group. This includes the timely and accurate preparation of Annual Report and Financial Statements (financial statements and ‘front-end’ financial sections), monthly management reporting and CFO pack, and regulatory reporting.
As Group Financial Accountant, your responsibilities will include among others
Financial Reporting
- Preparation of the Interim and Annual Report financial statements (Group and trading entities), in accordance with IFRS, ensuring that the audit and reporting deadlines are met both in terms of timing and budget.
- Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of monthly statutory consolidations (including support workings) and related commentary / analysis.
- Preparation of monthly consolidated income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement for inclusion in the reporting pack.
- Preparation of comprehensive audit files and act as the primary internal and external audit contact for the group consolidation.
- Prepare certain annual financial statements of legal entities
- Review annual financial statements of other legal entities owned by colleagues in the reporting team.
- Display an understanding of all legal entities making up the group consolidations.
- Act as an accounting expert for specific areas aligned to IFRS. This includes preparing monthly workings and posting journals.
- Provide financial information to the Group Tax Manager for tax computations and understand and post tax related journals (current and deferred tax) as communicated by the Group Tax Manager.
- Prepare technical accounting papers for the Audit and Risk Committee (AROC) and Board.
- Assist with guidance and implementation of new or amended accounting standards, and regular Financial Reporting Committee (FRC) recommendations.
- Support forecasting and budgeting exercise as per corporate guidelines.
Team leadership and management responsibilities
Provide day-to-day oversight and technical guidance, ensuring high-quality delivery of statutory reporting, month-end close, and audit support activities.Review and approve work prepared by direct reports, including journals, reconciliations, and financial statements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with IFRS and internal policies.Support development and performance management, including delegation of tasks, regular one-to-ones, coaching on complex issues, and identifying training needs.Regulatory Reporting
Preparation of regulatory returns for solo regulated entitiesPrepare schedules and management reporting packs which assist management in reviewing the completeness and accuracy of the returns.Respond to management queries in relation to the returns and management information packs produced.Ensure consistency between annual regulatory reports and quarterly reporting to FCA. Investigate reasons for deviations from forecast and seek to refine the forecasting process to minimise deviations between actual and forecast results.Assist with building and maintaining financial models which enable the forecasting of financial performance and balance sheet structure for the Group and its subsidiaries.Preparation of the annual fee tariff data to the FCAAssist with guidance and implementation of new or amended regulatory rules.Control, processes and documentation
Undertake specific group and legal entity reconciliations, ensuring that all reconciliations are up-to-date, all outstanding items cleared, and all corrective actions undertaken.Reconciliation of the financial and management accounting income statement with the assistance of the management reporting team.Challenge outdated and convoluted reporting processes, and recommend and implement process improvements.Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the capacity of Group Financial Accountant for allocated accounting systems and processes. Also, make recommendations to improve systems and procedures that will increase efficiency.Plan and implement, or assist with, any projects in relation to the financial control of the entities, and be available for projects relating to financial control in the wider finance department.Identification and documentation of risk areas in the reporting function with recommended mitigating controls.Ensure that the finance manual on Reporting matters is relevant and up-to-date.Qualifications
