- Nights : 21 : 00–06 : 30 (Mon & Tue), 21 : 00–06 : 15 (Wed & Thu)
- Lates : 13 : 15–21 : 15 (Mon–Thu), 13 : 15–18 : 45 (Fri) Alexander Steele are working with a leading food manufacturer in Cumbria to recruit a skilled and proactive Mechanical Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established production site as part of a multi-disciplined engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering effective mechanical maintenance to support operational efficiency and minimise downtime across a range of equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform both reactive and proactive mechanical maintenance
- Respond to breakdowns promptly to ensure minimal disruption to production
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks to a high standard
- Support production teams by improving plant reliability and performance
- Maintain accurate records of breakdowns and completed maintenance
- Use a range of workshop equipment including welding and fabrication tools
- Suggest improvements to enhance plant efficiency and safety
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and hygiene policies at all times What You’ll Need
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering Maintenance or Manufacture
- Time-served mechanical engineer or fitter
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems (e.g. pumps, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, steam systems)
- Experience in both reactive and planned maintenance in a manufacturing setting
- Some knowledge of electrics and hydraulics would be an advantage
- Logical approach to fault finding and problem solving
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently when required What We’re Looking For
