Job Description

As a Software Development Engineer II at Entain's In-House Studios, you will take on a more advanced role in developing innovative gaming products, contributing technical expertise to deliver exceptional player experiences. This mid-level position is designed for developers with a strong foundation in software engineering who are ready to take on more responsibility, including mentoring junior developers and collaborating across teams to enhance development processes. Your role will involve driving technical quality, solving complex problems, and supporting the development of seamless and engaging gaming experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain high-quality JavaScript code to implement advanced features, ensuring smooth integration of graphics, audio, and gameplay elements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop products that meet design specifications and exceed user expectations
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, helping them build skills and grow professionally
  • Work closely with QA and deployment teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues, ensuring products meet quality and compliance standards
  • Take ownership of features and deliverables, ensuring timely completion while maintaining high levels of quality and performance
  • Ensure responsiveness and compatibility across multiple devices and browsers, with a focus on delivering seamless user experiences
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, identifying opportunities to introduce new tools, technologies, and best practices to improve workflows
  • Actively contribute to technical discussions and help shape the future of development processes and team standards

Qualifications

  • Proficient understanding of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with proven experience delivering high-quality software solutions
  • Deep knowledge of the latest JavaScript standards and modern front-end development practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and deliver effective solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience collaborating across teams and providing constructive feedback
  • Experience with modern IDEs (e.g., Visual Studio, WebStorm, IntelliJ)
  • Proficient in source control software (e.g., Git, Perforce, SVN)
  • Advanced working knowledge of JavaScript tooling (e.g., Webpack, Gulp.js, Babel, Yarn)
  • Familiarity with optimisation techniques to enhance performance and user experience
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines while balancing competing priorities
  • Experience mentoring junior developers and providing technical support to the wider team
  • Maintain and improve documentation to ensure it accurately reflects technical processes and supports team knowledge sharing
  • Take an active role in code reviews, providing thoughtful and detailed feedback to ensure code quality and promote best practices
