Learning Support Assistant – Marple – September 2025 Start (Temporary with potential to be permanent)

Your Newpany Hays Education is proud to be working in partnership with a well-establishedmunity special school located in Marple, Stockport. The school caters to pupils aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and provides a highly supportive and structured environment tailored to individual learning and emotional development. With a capacity of 50 pupils and small class sizes, the school offers a personalised approach to education, focusing on therapeutic support, emotional regulation, and academic progress. Staff work collaboratively to create a nurturing and inclusive setting where pupils are encouraged to build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships. The school is situated in a peaceful area of Hawk Green, Marple, and benefits from strong links with local services and a dedicated team of professionalsmitted to improving oues for vulnerable learners. This is a temporary role initially, with the potential to be permanent for the right candidate.

Your New Job As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with SEMH needs both in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to deliver targeted interventions, promote positive behaviour, and help pupils engage with their learning. Key responsibilities include :

  • Providing 1 : 1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH challenges
  • Assisting in the delivery of personalised learning plans
  • Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
  • Encouraging pupil engagement and participation in lessons
  • Contributing to a safe, respectful, and inclusive school culture

What You'll Need to Succeed To be successful in this role, you will need :

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or SEN
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach
  • Strongmunication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
