Where you fit in

The UK / Continental Power Trading team itself, part of Shell Energy Europe & Africa’s (SE-EA) European Power Trading team, is responsible for proprietary trading, and the management of a growing portfolio comprising customer demand, renewable, batteries and thermal generation. The team manages exposures down the curve through to delivery.

SE-EA trades natural gas, power, green power certificates, voluntary / compliance driven environmental products with counterparties including major resource holders of gas, upstream producers, investment banks, trading houses, utilities, power generators, large as well as up-and coming retail gas and power marketing companies, regional and local gas and power distribution companies, gas storage operators, and large industrial and commercial gas and power users.

What’s the role?

Your Main Accountabilities Include The Following

Support with the management of exposures (including all greeks) arising from existing flex, interconnector and option structures on the desk.
Trading liquid option markets and making markets in illiquid option markets (where applicable).
Support with bidding for, and the ongoing optimization of a broad book of cross border capacities
Working with external (and internal) customers alongside business development to bring in new structures with embedded optionality to the book, or deal types to help monetize existing exposures.
Driving the development of the desk’s tools and resources to value, price, manage and monetize new and existing option structures.
Observe and strictly comply with all regulatory guidelines, and within mandated authorities.
Coach & educate junior colleagues.

What We Need From You

We are looking for experienced trading professionals. You are likely to be a strong contender if you have hands on experience in the following :

European power option trading / pricing experience.

Experience of Asset Backed trading (not a pre-requisite).

Experience working with origination on deals with embedded optionality.
