Category Buyer – Indirect Procurement

Location :  Desford, Leicester

Type :  Full-time

Experience Level :  Mid-level

Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for procurement and supplier management? We're looking for a Category Buyer to lead and execute indirect purchasing strategies that drive value across quality, cost, logistics, development, and management.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop and manage category strategies for indirect procurement.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, inventory optimization, and quality improvements.
  • Serve as the key liaison between internal teams and suppliers, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Monitor supplier performance and foster strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and contract specifications.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree or equivalent experience in supply chain, business, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of negotiation, contracts management, and strategic sourcing.
  • Working knowledge of procurement systems and supplier relationship management.
