Sheffield United Football Club are offering an exciting opportunity for a personable, solution-focused individual to join our growing IT team. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with good technical expertise and a proactive approach to support who thrives in a fast-paced environments.

As an IT Support Technician, you will play a key part in maintaining and developing the club's IT infrastructure, supporting users across a wide range of systems and departments. From providing high-quality technical support to assisting in the delivery of complex IT projects, your contributions will directly impact the club's day-to-day operations and matchday delivery.

Role Responsibilities :

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line support to all stakeholders as required, liaising with the IT Department to ensure an efficient and timely resolution.
  • Lead the accurate maintenance of the club's asset management system, ensuring that all assets are correctly logged and documented.
  • Take ownership of the on-boarding and off-boarding processes, ensuring that they are completed effectively, following departmental technical and non-technical processes at all times.
  • Support the IT Department in the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, networking infrastructure, end-user devices, operating systems, software and peripherals.
  • Follow all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Keep current with the latest technologies.
  • Support the IT Manager and IT Department with technical projects where required.
  • Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation on IT equipment and services for both users and the IT Department.
  • Drive own personal development and career progression, with knowledge and skill building through internal and external training.
  • Provide IT support for matchdays and major events hosted at Bramall Lane, as required.
  • Carry out any typical IT duties or other reasonable management requests as directed.
  • Ensure completion of any mandatory training required for the role, including internal club training around Safeguarding and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

Club Wide Responsibilities :

  • Adhere to all Sheffield United Football Club's Safeguarding Policies and Procedures to foster an environment which protects from harm those defined as children and adults at risk.
  • Report any concerns of a Safeguarding nature to the relevant parties and remain fully compliant with any applicable Safeguarding checks and due diligence and recognise your responsibility to the Club's Safeguarding agenda.

  • Essential Criteria for the Role :

  • Experience in a fast-paced IT Support environment
  • Proactive approach to IT Support
  • Technical knowledge of Windows, MacOS and iOS devices, standard desktop and mobile applications
  • Technical knowledge of basic networking concepts such as VLANs and Wi-Fi
  • Ability to create and maintain technical and non-technical documentation
  • Basic understanding of Cyber Security and GDPR
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
  • A person-oriented approach with the ability to build a good rapport
  • Ability to make decisions effectively, with an evidence-based approach
  • Process-driven approach to the completion of tasks
  • Self-Motivated with the ability to manage own workload
  • Desirable Criteria for the Role :

  • Experience in assisting with the delivery of technical projects and installations.
  • Technical knowledge of Active Directory (On-Premises and Azure / Entra), DHCP, DNS and Group Policy.
  • Technical knowledge of complex networking concepts such as SNMP, STP and networking infrastructure requirements (Copper, Fibre Optic and Wireless).
  • Ability to deliver training or information to non-technical staff.
  • Experience with IT solutions including : Anti-Virus, Back-ups, MDM, VoIP, Wi-Fi, CCTV, Print Solutions, Access Control and Remote Support Tools.
  • Experience of IT in a live events, professional sports or stadia environment.
  • University degree in the field of Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Any industry or field-based IT qualification.
  • Full driving license.
