Teaching Assistant - Autism Unit

Enfield Primary School is thrilled to announce the opening of our brand-new Autism Unit, and we are seeking a compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistant to join us on this exciting venture.

Position : Teaching Assistant - Autism Unit in Primary school

Location : Enfield Borough, London

Number of Children : 12 moving to 16

Contract Type : Full-time Temporary

Contract Duration : September Start until July 2026

Working Hours : 8 : 30 am - 4 : 00 pm (Term Time Only)

Role and Responsibilities :

Provide individualized support and guidance to students within the Autism Unit.

Collaborate with the class teacher and therapists to implement personalized learning programs.

Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where every child feels valued and supported.

Assist students in developing social, communication, and behavioural skills.

Work closely with parents and caregivers to ensure a holistic approach to each child's development.

Contribute to a collaborative team environment and participate in training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements :

Relevant experience working with children with autism is highly desirable.

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching and Learning Support or equivalent qualification.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with autism.

A positive and proactive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
