Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA

Location : Sittingbourne

Employment Type : Full time

Start Date : April 2025 / September 2025

Salary : Competitive rates of pay

Academics Rochester are in need of experienced TA's / HLTA's to work within schools across Sittingbourne and Sheppey.

There has been a high demand for HLTA's to support schools with PPA cover across KS1 and 2, as well as working with small groups of pupils.

On occasions, there may also be a request to teach the whole class.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Support teaching and learning by working with individuals or small groups of pupils under the direction of teaching staff.
  • Be responsible for the whole class in the absence of the teacher for short periods.
  • Deliver high-quality support to children and young people, accelerating their progress.
  • Develop high-quality resources.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • GCSE Maths and English Grade 4 or equivalent.
  • Evidence of additional qualifications suitable to TA role NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant.
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience of working and supporting primary age children.
  • Experience of carrying out intervention programmes.
  • Knowledge of National Curriculum.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and an active listener.
  • Highly motivated and the ability to motivate children.
  • Assist children on an individual basis, in small group and whole class work.
  • Good ICT skills.
