Based at Templehall Community Centre you will report directly to the Community Use Lead Officer and will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations within a portfolio of Community Use facilities across Kirkcaldy, Kinghorn and Burntisland. You will manage and supervise a team of caretaker / cleaners to ensure our buildings remain clean, operational, and compliant with Health & Safety regulations and will ensure all programme requirements and realistic demands by service users are met.
Collaborating with the Community Use Lead Officer and local Community Education Worker you will provide support to Management Committees who occupy several facilities within the area. You will provide guidance, advice, and support to Committees on managing community buildings and will share knowledge and information to help build their resilience, recovery and help increase participation and provide opportunities for local communities.
From time to time you will engage with customers and user groups in an appropriate manner ensuring that Council service provision is a positive experience for all facility users. You will contribute to the achievement of the key priorities and milestones set out in the Service Improvement Plan, Community Use Plan and other relevant strategy documents.
The normal working week will involve working 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
However, there may be a requirement to work evenings or weekends to suit business needs. You will receive an enhanced payment (+0.33%) for any work after 8pm and / or weekend work.
You will be one of our contacts in the event there is an emergency at one of our Community Use facilities. It is not essential that you hold a driving license. However, you will be expected to travel to Community Use facilities for which you are responsible for.
Travel expenses are paid for any travel over and above your initial travel to and from your initial base of work.

The Person
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with a good understanding of Health & Safety regulation and customer service principles. Ideally the candidate will have some working knowledge of fire safety regulations, risk assessments and building compliance requirements.
In addition, we are looking for someone who can demonstrate good communication skills and be customer focussed, you should also be a well-organised individual and able to manage conflicting demands.
