Job description

We are Twining-Hestia. We make a difference.

At Twining-Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Currently, we are seeking an Employment Specialist to play a pivotal role in our Haringey & Barnet IPS service in Haringey.

What will I be doing?

To work with clients with more serious mental illness, you need to be comfortable supporting people who have experienced or are experiencing serious mental health challenges, as well as possibly other significant difficulties. Although you will receive full training and support, it's important to be aware of the potential impact on your own mental wellbeing.

What do I need to bring?

You should demonstrate the core skills required for this role and align with our values and mission. You don't need to meet all the criteria immediately; a willingness to learn is key. We also value lived experience in the areas we support, so please mention this in your application if applicable.

Team Expectations

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the support needs of individuals with mental health conditions, especially in helping them find, return to, or retain mainstream employment. Experience from health or social care settings, knowledge of evidence-based employment models like Individual Placement and Support (IPS), and a commitment to employment retention and fidelity to IPS principles are essential.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary to confidently engage with clients, stakeholders, and partners, building strong local partnerships and offering creative, person-centred solutions. Organizational skills, outcome-driven approach, and experience in diary management and working under deadlines are also important.

A sound understanding of policies such as Health & Safety, Data Protection, Equality & Diversity, and employment law, particularly the Equality Act 2010, is required. You should be dynamic, empathetic, self-motivated, and value employment's role in mental health recovery. Maintaining a positive attitude and proactively managing your wellbeing and development are essential.

Competency in assessing client needs, developing action plans, and maintaining accurate casework records using Microsoft Office and relevant databases is expected. Willingness to travel across the London Boroughs and engage in ongoing professional development is also necessary.

Interview Process

Our interview process is straightforward :

  • Shortlisting call : A dedicated recruitment specialist will discuss your experience, motivations, and values, and share information about our organisation.
  • Face-to-face interview : Conducted with the hiring manager, focusing on values and competencies.

Additional stages may be involved depending on the role.

Our Commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion

We serve people from diverse backgrounds, and we hire from all walks of life to strengthen our organisation. We are committed to creating an inclusive workforce and value the skills and experiences different individuals bring.

Disability Confidence Employer

Twining-Hestia is a proud disability confident employer. We guarantee interviews for applicants with disabilities who meet the role's minimum criteria, and we provide reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process and employment.

Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups. All staff and volunteers must undertake safeguarding training throughout their employment.
