Residential Care Practitioner

Children & Young People

Location : North West

Pay : £16.82 per hour

Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people in North West? We have the role for you as a Residential Social Care Worker. As a Residential Childcare Worker, you will provide day-to-day care to children and young people within a stable, safe, and nurturing environment. You will build positive relationships with each child and young person to meet their needs, taking responsibility as a keyworker. You will support the Registered Homes Manager and Senior Residential Support Workers to ensure the Statement of Purpose is met, with an emphasis on delivering a person-centred therapeutic service and high-quality childcare. Experience working in a child's residential home is desirable.

In this role, you will :

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.
  • Work according to care plans and risk assessments, contributing to reviews.
  • Build effective relationships with children, young people, their families, and external agencies.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism in residential childcare.
  • Support the educational and social development of children and young people, assisting with Individual Education Plans.
  • Meet emotional and physical needs and promote development opportunities.
  • Maintain quality records with supervision from Senior Residential Support Workers and Managers.
  • Follow council policies and procedures.
  • Keep the home clean and tidy, encouraging participation from children and young people.

About You

  • You will hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) or GCSEs in Maths and English grade C / 4 or above, with willingness to work towards a Level 4 Diploma within 2 years.
  • You have experience (paid or voluntary) in health and social care or educational settings, including dealing with challenging behaviors.
  • You possess great self-awareness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships.
  • You are committed to learning, self-reflection, and delivering high-quality care.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures is essential. You must have a driving license and access to a car; reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled applicants.
  • You may need to provide cover across multiple homes to meet children's needs.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
