Job Title : Principal Systems Engineer

Location : Isle of Wight – Cowes, Chelmsford – Great Baddow or Portsmouth – BroadOak

Salary : Up to £75,900, commensurate with skills and experience. Part-time & accruing hours options available. Please contact us to discuss these options.

Take on a dynamic Principal Systems Engineering role at the forefront of real-world demands in the defence industry. Your responsibilities will include ensuring operational excellence for existing products and developing next-generation radar systems to counter emerging threats, contributing to our technology strategy. Your daily tasks will involve applying Systems Engineering principles across the entire development lifecycle, developing radar systems used by those who serve and protect us.

What you’ll be doing :

  • Developing innovative solutions to evolving technical challenges in complex Radar Systems
  • Applying Systems Engineering principles, techniques, and governance to develop solutions and resolve issues
  • Conducting system design analysis to manage trade-offs and specify robust designs
  • Leading decomposition of requirements to system and sub-system levels, managing these in tools like IBM DOORS Next
  • Providing technical leadership with a holistic understanding of system solutions
  • Collaborating across disciplines including electronics, electrical, mechanical, and software engineering
  • Leading system integration, testing, and validation activities
  • Defining system acceptance strategies and demonstrating system performance to stakeholders
  • Building your profile with senior stakeholders and expanding your engineering expertise

Your skills and experiences :

Essential :

  • Knowledge in signal processing, target tracking, object classification algorithms, or system and sensor resource optimization
  • Understanding of factors affecting sensing system performance and measurement accuracy
  • Experience with Systems Engineering standards (e.g., ISO 15288)
  • Experience in presenting technical and non-technical information in formal settings

    The Radar Systems Engineering team :
