SEND Teaching Assistant (ASD & SEMH) – Manchester (M22) – Immediate Start with Permanent Potential

Are you passionate about supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? A specialist school in Manchester (M22) is looking for a caring and skilled SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time position with the potential for a permanent role, perfect for those seeking long-term career development in SEND education.

Role Details :

  • Location : Manchester (M22)
  • Start Date : ASAP
  • Pay Rate : £89 - £100 per day
  • Job Type : Full-time, with the potential to become permanent

Key Responsibilities :

  • Offering 1 : 1 and small group support to students with ASD and SEMH, helping them engage and succeed in their learning.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Supporting students with behaviour management, using de-escalation strategies to promote positive outcomes.
  • Encouraging students’ social and emotional growth, fostering independence, confidence, and well-being.
  • Collaborating with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to ensure effective, tailored support for each student.
  • Contributing to the creation of a safe, structured, and inclusive environment that promotes both learning and personal development.
  • The Ideal Candidate :

  • Experience working with children with ASD, SEMH, or other SEND needs (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and how to apply them effectively.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with students with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, able to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A passion for making a difference in the lives of students with SEND, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
