Communication Support Worker

50,916 per annum, pro rata

26 hours per week

As a Communication Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality educational support for D / deaf and hearing-impaired students across New College Lanarkshire. You will enable effective and accurate communication between students and staff, helping to ensure full access to learning and the wider college environment.

You will use a variety of communication methods, including British Sign Language (BSL), Sign Supported English, total communication, and note-taking tailored to the individual needs of D / deaf students. Flexibility and adaptability in applying these strategies are key, as is working closely with lecturing staff to ensure content is delivered in an accessible format.

This is a collaborative role, working within the Educational Support team to promote inclusive learning and raise awareness of the needs of D / deaf and hearing-impaired learners.

You will hold BSL Level 6 (or equivalent) and have experience supporting students aged 16+ in an educational setting. Familiarity with study skills strategies and technological support tools is also essential.

While based at our Motherwell Campus, regular travel across all college campuses will be required.
